The ocean, the silent pillar of our survival: a call to action before UNOC 2025

Often invisible, the ocean is nevertheless vital to humanity. It generates more than 50% of the oxygen we breathe, regulates the climate, feeds billions of people, and is home to 80% of the world's biodiversity. Yet, it is now at a critical point: pollution, overfishing, acidification, rising sea levels... threats are mounting.

Faced with the emergency, a global meeting in Nice in 2025

From June 9 to 13, 2025, the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) will be held in Nice, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica. This global summit will bring together decision-makers, scientists, businesses, NGOs, youth, and civil society around a common goal: saving the ocean to preserve our common future.

But before this major conference, three major events will provide food for thought and lay the foundations for an ambitious agenda:

· One Ocean Science Congress (Nice, June 4-6, 2025): a gathering of scientific experts to take stock of the state of the ocean and research priorities.

· Blue Economy and Finance Forum (Monaco, June 7-8, 2025): the focus will be on economic and financial solutions for a sustainable blue economy.

· Coalition Ocean Rise & Coastal Resilience Conference (Nice, June 7, 2025): dedicated to the adaptation of coastal areas to rising sea levels.

Reinventing our models to protect the ocean

Protecting the ocean requires systemic change. It is time to:

· Accelerate the transition to a sustainable blue economy.

· Rethinking maritime uses: transport, fishing, aquaculture, coastal tourism, etc.

· Involve all stakeholders – particularly young people, communities and businesses.

DT Master Carbon: a committed player in the transition

At DT Master Carbon, we believe that climate and biodiversity, including marine biodiversity, are inseparable. Our combined climate and biodiversity approach enables organizations to reconcile growth and sustainability by simplifying the management of their actions.

Preserving the ocean also means acting for local economic resilience.

An essential collective mobilization

Every action counts. Governments, businesses, citizens: the mobilization must be global. Industries that depend on the ocean—shipping, fishing, tourism, energy—will not prosper without sustainable management of marine resources.

The time for action is now: technological innovations, sustainable financing, new indicators, international partnerships... All forces must converge to safeguard this ecosystem that keeps us alive.

In conclusion

Preserving the ocean isn't just about protecting a natural space: it's about securing our collective future. As UNOC 2025 and its preparatory events approach, it's time to put the ocean back at the center of the global political, economic, and climate agenda. At DT Master Carbon, this commitment is at the heart of what we do.
